Bajaj Auto is actively working on a pioneering motorcycle designed to run on both petrol and compressed natural gas (CNG). Set to debut in the second quarter of 2024, this groundbreaking CNG-powered motorcycle, as revealed by Rajiv Bajaj, the Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, is positioned to be the world’s first of its kind. Originally scheduled for a 2025 launch, the introduction has been expedited to the next quarter of this year. Bajaj envisions a significant reduction in both operating and fuel costs, ranging from 50-65%, with the advent of this innovative CNG-powered motorcycle.
While specific technical details about the CNG-powered bike remain undisclosed, reports suggest that it is internally known as the Bruzer E101 and may feature a 110cc engine. Initial manufacturing of the bike is expected to take place at Bajaj’s Aurangabad plant, followed by production at the Pant Nagar facility. Bajaj has ambitious plans for production, aiming to build 2 lakh units annually.
