Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the leading automaker in the country, has an ambitious plan to launch eight new cars in the Indian market. The lineup includes:
1. All-new fourth-generation Swift: Expected to launch in April 2024, the new Swift will feature a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder petrol engine with mild hybrid technology, targeting a mileage of 30-35 kmpl.
2. All-new Dzire: Set for launch a few months after the new Swift, the Dzire will undergo a complete revamp with potential additions like an electric sunroof. It will share the mild hybrid 1.2-litre Z-Series petrol engine with the Swift.
3. All-electric eVX SUV: Maruti Suzuki plans to introduce its first fully electric SUV, the eVX, around December 2024. Expected to compete with electric SUVs from other brands, the eVX may offer two battery pack options.
4.Seven-seater Grand Vitara: Internally codenamed Y17, the 7-seater Grand Vitara is anticipated to launch in early 2025. It will likely be a stretched version of the existing model, retaining the same powertrains with the addition of a third row of seats.
5. Fronx facelift: A facelifted version of the Fronx crossover SUV is expected in 2025, featuring a new exterior design and interior updates. The highlight will be the addition of a new strong hybrid system called the Series Hybrid System, providing a mileage of around 35 kmpl.
6. New Micro SUV (Codenamed Y43): A new micro SUV, aiming to compete with models like Tata Punch and Citroen C3, is expected to debut around late 2026.
7. New generation Baleno:The facelifted version of the popular premium hatchback, Baleno, is slated for a 2026 launch, featuring the new series hybrid system along with updated exterior and interior.
8. New compact MPV: MSIL is reportedly developing a new compact MPV, with no exact launch date provided. Expected to compete with models like Renault Triber and Nissan’s version of the Triber.
