Accidents occur on our roads almost daily, with hundreds being reported and many more going unnoticed. Some of these accidents are fatal, while others are simply bizarre, leaving us wondering what happened. One such unusual accident took place in Surat, Gujarat, where a Volkswagen Taigun SUV crashed into a parked Tata Tiago and ended up overturning. This incident was captured on video and shared by Prateek Singh on his YouTube channel. The footage shows the Taigun on its roof next to the Tiago, with witnesses claiming the SUV was speeding when it rear-ended the stationary Tiago.
The crash can be explained by the physics of vehicle dynamics. SUVs, like the Taigun, have a higher center of gravity compared to hatchbacks. This makes them more prone to losing control, especially when turning or during sudden impacts. In this case, the Taigun hit the rear right corner of the Tiago, which likely had its handbrake engaged. The impact and the momentum caused the Taigun to lose balance and flip over. Fortunately, none of the occupants in either vehicle were injured.
Both the Tata Tiago and the Volkswagen Taigun are known for their robust build quality. The Tiago has a 4-star rating in the Global NCAP crash tests, while the Taigun boasts a 5-star rating, scoring highly in both adult and child safety protection. This isn’t the first collision between Tata and Volkswagen cars; last year, a Tata Altroz and a Volkswagen Taigun also crashed but managed to protect their passengers effectively. These incidents highlight the importance of vehicle safety standards and the effectiveness of well-built cars in protecting their occupants.
