Mahindra is set to add excitement to Independence Day with the launch of its new product, the Thar Roxx. This highly anticipated five-door version of the Thar will make its debut in the Indian market on 15 August. Ahead of the official announcement, Mahindra has been teasing the SUV, starting with its exterior. Recently, spy photos of the Roxx’s cabin have surfaced, revealing several intriguing details.
Inside the Thar Roxx
The first noticeable feature in the Thar Roxx’s cabin is the new white upholstery, reminiscent of the XUV700. This upholstery is expected to include a ventilation function for the front seats. However, given the SUV’s rugged nature, the light-colored seats may be challenging to maintain.
Modern Features and Specifications
The Thar Roxx will boast modern amenities such as a larger touchscreen infotainment system, bezel-less IRVM, automatic climate control, a new steering wheel, six airbags, and a single-pane sunroof. This indicates that the variant in the spy photos is not the top-spec model, as official teasers have confirmed the inclusion of a panoramic sunroof in higher trims.
Rear Passenger Comfort
For rear passengers, the Thar Roxx will offer adjustable headrests for all seats, a split center armrest, rear armrest, three-point seatbelts for all passengers, and roof-mounted rear speakers. The instrument panel appears to be the same as the current Thar, further suggesting that the spied version is a lower-spec model.

Powertrain and Competition
Mechanically, the Thar Roxx is expected to utilize the existing powertrain options. It remains to be seen if this new iteration of the Thar will be available in a rear-wheel-drive version. Once launched, the Thar Roxx will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and the Force Gurkha, both of which are also available in five-door configurations.
Mahindra’s new Thar Roxx promises to combine rugged off-road capabilities with modern features, making it a compelling choice for SUV enthusiasts in the Indian market.
