In this configuration, the engine functions as a generator, deriving propulsion power from the electric drivetrain. Several upcoming Maruti Suzuki vehicles are set to adopt this innovative powertrain:
1. 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift: The forthcoming fourth-generation Swift showcases a revamped exterior and interior, featuring a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated Z-Series 3-cylinder petrol engine. Significantly, it integrates a strong hybrid system, targeting an impressive mileage of 35 kmpl, with an expected launch in April 2024.
2. New Dzire: Deriving its foundation from the new Swift, the upcoming sub-compact sedan, Dzire, is poised to share the 1.2-liter Z-Series petrol engine equipped with a strong hybrid system. The model is anticipated to incorporate refreshed design elements and potentially become the first sub-compact sedan in India to feature a sunroof.
3.Seven-seater Grand Vitara: In collaboration with Toyota, Maruti Suzuki is actively developing seven-seater iterations of the compact SUVs Grand Vitara and Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The Grand Vitara seven-seater, anticipated in 2025, is likely to retain the design essence of the outgoing model while accommodating a stretched body for an additional third row of seats. The robust hybrid drivetrain is expected to continue.
4. Fronx Facelift:The Fronx crossover is slated to receive a facelift coupled with a new HEV series hybrid system. The Z12E three-cylinder engine will serve as a generator, charging a 1.5-2 kWh battery pack, while an electric motor propels the front wheels. This series hybrid system aims to elevate the driving experience, offering smooth acceleration, responsive handling, and reduced emissions, with an estimated mileage of approximately 35 kmpl. The launch is projected for late 2025.
