Mahindra has begun series production of the Thar 5-door, likely to be named Thar Armada, at its Chakan plant. Initial production numbers have been increased from 2,500 to around 5,000-6,000 units per month. The Thar Armada will feature the same engines as the standard model: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel, both available with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
