Skoda made the decision to discontinue the Skoda Octavia and Superb models in the Indian market earlier this year. Both vehicles were equipped with the EA888 evo3 powertrain, which did not meet the latest BS6 Phase 2 emission norms. Skoda determined that upgrading the powertrain to the evo4 version was not feasible and, as a result, chose to cease production of the models.
However, there is good news for Skoda enthusiasts in India. Skoda intends to introduce the next-generation Superb in the country. The new model is expected to be launched later this year and might be locally assembled. Reports indicate that the upcoming premium sedan may feature strong-hybrid powertrains, offering improved efficiency and performance.
Furthermore, the Skoda Octavia is also expected to make a comeback in India, featuring an updated design and an engine that complies with the Real Driving Emissions (RDE) standards. This reiteration of the Octavia aims to cater to the evolving demands of the market while meeting the necessary emission regulations.
