Mahindra Thar Roxx has been finally launched in India, with introductory prices starting at ₹12.99 lakh for the petrol version and ₹13.99 lakh for the diesel version (ex-showroom). Currently, only the pricing for the base MX1 variant has been revealed, followed by other variants now.
Nevertheless, here are some reasons not to consider the Mahindra Thar Roxx
– The light-colored interiors, especially the white seats, are prone to getting dirty quickly, so frequent cleaning is necessary.
– The petrol automatic variant is fuel-thirsty due to its heavy weight, 174 BHP, and torque-converter automatic transmission.
– Some styling elements are either overly polarizing or too busy.
– The ride quality is a significant improvement over the 3-door Thar, but it doesn’t match the plushness of the XUV700 or other monocoque crossovers. The 19” wheels contribute to this difference in comfort, though overall, it deserves a 7/10 rating.
– There is no option for a convertible soft-top (like in the Thar) or a removable hard-top (like the Wrangler) for those who enjoy open-top driving.

– Ingress and egress to the rear seats can be challenging, particularly for elderly passengers.
– The 4×4 option is limited to the diesel variant, with the petrol version only available in rear-wheel drive. Mahindra should address this soon.
– Unlike the Scorpio-N and XUV700, this model does not offer a third row of seats.
– Some features are missing, such as reach-adjustable steering, keyless entry, and rear window shades.
– As with any new Mahindra model, expect some niggles. Just ask the owners of the 3-door Thar.
